Eight months after polytechnic lecturers embarked on industrial action, their students now employ other survival strategies, CHARLES ABAH writes

Isah Kwano is a Higher National Diploma, Banking and Finance student of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi. But due to the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, you are not likely to find him on campus nowadays.

Instead, you may find the youth operating a commercial vehicle known locally as Kabukabu. It is not his will to suddenly become a transporter. It is an outcome of the protracted industrial action.

Exchange of Prisoners for Chibok Girls Interrupted by Presidency....

Ok...dont lets get confused, It was the Presidency that initiated the lets talk to the Boko Haram to free the girls but i think the term "Do not negotiate with Terrorists" have come to stay. According to reports, a deal for the release of some of the abducted schoolgirls was close to being secured when the Nigerian government called it off, BBC and Mail on Sunday said.


Some of the girls were set to be freed in exchange for imprisoned Islamist militants. Boko Haram group snatched more than 200 girls from a school on April 14. The papers said that officials have held talks with the group to secure the release of the schoolgirls, noting that an intermediary met Boko Haram leaders earlier this month and visited the location in Borno where the girls were being held.

The only Nigerian journalist with access to Boko Haram flown home to negotiate with group

Nigerian journalist, Ahmad Salkida, who previously worked for Daily Trust and Premium Times and reported extensively on Boko Haram, fled Nigeria to Dubai 2 years ago after being accused of being a Boko Haram sympathizer. He said he fled after 'his life and that of his family became endangered' after security agencies began to mistake his in-depth reporting on the terrorist group as evidence of his closeness to them. He went underground for several weeks before finally fleeing Nigeria.

There was a big fight between T.I. and Floyd Mayweather at FatBurger in Las Vegas early Sunday morning.  And according to several witnesses, the fight all started over Tiny, TI's wife.

Some said T.I was upset that Floyd and his wife Tiny were hanging out at Fat Burger, it pissed T.I. off and caused him to hit Floyd first. Floyd was eating inside the restaurant when T.I. walked up and started jawing at him. Floyd told the rapper to, “control his bi*ch” and that’s when all hell broke loose. T.I. swung at Floyd, their giant bodyguards jumped in to separate them and then the all out melee began. Chairs were thrown and the police was called.

This guy is crazy. haha. Wiz Khalifa, Amber Rose's hubby was arrested early Sunday morning at an airport in Texas after a "green leafy substance" was found on him. TMZ reports that the "Black and Yellow" rapper was flying from El Paso to Dallas when TSA officials discovered the green stuff.

The real cause of the fire is still unknown but rumors has it that the fire was as a result of wire mishap I.e improper connecting of wires which could lead to a spark and then a fire if an object that is consumable is close by. The school securities are trying their best to put it out with a fire extinguisher even though they have no experience in the field...As at the time of this report, all halls within that vicinity are currently on a blackout. Photo: Yesterday Bomb Explosion Killed Only the Suicide Bomber!!


Less than a week after multiple explosions killed over 200 people in Jos, the Plateau State capital, another round of explosion just went off in the city tonight. And according to residents, the explosion occurred around 9pm, along Bauchi Road  near the University of Jos, Jos North Local Government Area.
Reuters reports that the explosion was a botched suicide bombing that was meant to target an open air viewing of a football match in the central Nigerian city of Jos and it killed just the bomber. The bomber approached Jos View Centre while people were watching Real Madrid play Atletico Madrid, but failed to get there before his car exploded.

The spokesperson of the Police State Command of the Nigeria Police, Felicia Ali, has confirmed the incident but said details were still sketchy.
