Dr Sid to wed his fiancée Simi Osomo Coming July

Nigerian singer, Sidney Onoriode Esiri, popularly known as Dr Sid, whose fiancée Simi Osomo, graduated from Law school in November 2013, has finally declared his intention to tie the knot this year.
The Nigerian entertainment industry has lately been abuzz with celebrities getting married to their sweethearts. Last weekend, Tiwa Savage and her husband, Tunji ‘Tee Billz’ Balogun held their wedding in Dubai.
At the ceremony, Tiwa's co-Mavin records mate, Dr Sid, dropped a bombshell. The ‘Surulere’ crooner announced that his wedding would come up in July. His announcement was hailed by his colleagues who are eagerly waiting for the day to come!

Update On The Abducted Schoolgirls.....Married And Moved Abroad?

Most of the 234 Borno schoolgirls in Boko Haram captivity, according to a report on DailyTrust, have allegedly been ferried abroad to Chad and Cameroon after they were married off to sect members on N2,000 bride price each.

The female students were taken from their hostels at the Government Girls Secondary School Chibok on the night of April 14. About 40 had escaped in the days after the incident, but parents and school authorities said at least 234 of them were yet to be found.

There are reports that the ongoing protest by striking lecturers of Nigeria’s polytechnics and colleges of education at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, has been disrupted by the police.

The peaceful protest, which was organized to show displeasure at the Federal Government’s handling of the strike which is about 11 months old now was disrupted on Tuesday morning when police officers fired tear-gas at the protesters, made up of lecturers and students.

A new born baby abandoned by her mother was recently discovered in a swampy dump-site around Great Aduke School, Victory Estate in Iba area of Lagos. However, the baby finally died after being rejected by two public hospitals.

Vanguard gathered that the baby girl was discovered inside a carton by a young man (names withheld) who had gone to inspect his building site in the estate. According to him:

An ex-student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Mr. Ambrose Ezeanwani, who exposed a racket in the students’ bursary scheme in Delta state was handed over to men from the Delta State Government yesterday afternoon after days of illegal detention in Lagos. State where he will be most likely tortured and “tried” for revealing the fraud perpetrated by officials of the state.

Nigerian film-maker and Nollywood icon Amaka Igwe has shockingly passed on at 51. The sad incident occurred yesterday in Enugu where she had gone, in company of her husband, for pre-production preparations for a new Igbo soap.

She suffered an asthma attack and was immediately rushed to the hospital after initial interventions had failed. She passed on before getting to the hospital.

Mrs Igwe is survived by her husband of 21 years Charles Igwe, three children, an aged mother, siblings and a large extended family.

She was an accomplished writer, producer, director, entrepreneur and teacher. She was also the founder of BoBTV Expo, founder and CEO of Top Radio 90.9FM, Amaka Igwe Studios, and the newly-launched Q Entertainment Networks. May her soul rest in peace.

Abducted School Girls: God Says He Will Release Them –TB Joshua

Speaking in his church yesterday, Prophet TB Joshua has said he saw a vision that the girls were released. He also urged Nigerians and their parents to pray for the release of the girls, but above all he says God has spoken that He will release them.

“They have to be released. That is the voice of God. I saw a vision where some of these girls have escaped and they are trying to find their way from the forest to the town. In the midnight, some of these girls ran away. The ones that are still under their custody – God said He will release them. This is the voice of God. God has spoken – these children must be released. Neighbours who peeped through the window saw the girl’s hands and legs tied down and a cloth forced down her throat trying to rescue herself in a pool of her own blood. Omotola Ekeinde has said she has suffered enough for refusing to party with politicians and turning down their Ghana must go bags, and begged people not to make her suffer the more by mentioning her name among those who wine and dine with politicians. Speaking as a guest at the just concluded Nigerian Entertainment Conference (NEC), the actress said;

“Somebody on a blog a few days ago wrote that there are Nollywood personalities who are friends with politicians, sharing the national cake together. I, Omotola, have never campaigned or partied with any government, so don’t mention my name among those who do that. BREAKING NEWS: Vice President Loses Brother In a Ghastly Motor Accident

Vice President of Nigeria, Arc. Namadi Sambo today lost his immediate younger brother Capt. Sabo Sambo in a car accident along the Abuja Airport Road today, Sunday April 27 2014. Captain Sabo was reportedly on his way to the airport to catch a flight when he crashed into a tree and his car went up in flames at the Bill Clinton drive Airport Road Abuja.

It was gathered that he has since been buried at the Apo cemetery, Abuja according to Islamic rites.

Some of those reportedly present at the burial ceremony included the former military President Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar and several other dignitaries and sympathizers. The deceased was a qualified pilot who worked with the former Nigerian Airways and the Presidential Air Fleet before retiring to be on his own.

Mr Nigeria 2014 took place yesterday, 26^th of April, 2014 at Eko Hotel in Lagos and MTV Shuga Actor, Ikubese Emmanuel emerged the winner. See more photos after the cut.
