Top 5 Fast Foods You Can’t Do Without In Unilag Hostels By @Olabodesaygee

wpid-fast-food.jpg

1. GARRI: This is undoubtedly the number one fast food in Unilag (or better still in Nigeria as a whole). Garri (for those that don’t know its cassava flakes) is usually mixed with ordinary water or cold water and taken like corn flakes. For those in the middle class, they buy sugar and cold water but those in the upper class can go as far as buying groundnut, milk and even Milo. Some Unilag girls/boys that like forming say Garri is for the poor, some say when they take it they have eye problem, some even say they have never tasted Garri before, all I have to say is that; Garri (garriumsulphate) have been saving Unilag students(and Nigerians) since 1828 BC.

UPDATE AND INSIGHT AS REGARDS JAMB NEW ADMISSION POLICY

According to news reaching us from inside reports,Jamb has suddenly come up with a new eligibility regulation whereby students that scored 200marks & above in 5 Nig top universities are being posted to other universities (mostly private universities). The affected universities include Unilag, OAU, Unilorin,Uniben and a yet to be confirmed institution.
Though the Federal Government set the new Jamb score at 180, unfortunately, applicants to these affected universites who scored 200 and above may not write the post utme exam not to talk if being admitted. According to highly reliable sources, Jamb has shortlisted 9,937students (out of over 30,000 applicants) for Unilag Post Utme & 18,324 students
Unilorin by using different cut off marks like 220,240,250& 255 for different courses & catchment area. This is a very illegal move which MUST be fought against.

PHOTOS: PARENTS AND STUDENTS PROTESTING IN UNILAG AS REGARDS JAMB NEW POLICY

Parents and students affected by the new jamb policy as regards admission process came to unilag this morning to show that the new policy isn't fair. Some claim jamb has no right to change their school of choice while some insist the policy be reviewed... The registrar addressed them but no decision was taken..
The university is likely to stop the sales of post utme form

UNILAG TAKE ON THE NEW POLICY REGARDS ELIGIBILITY OF CANDIDATES FOR 2015/2016 ADMISSION

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) at its 2015 Combined Policy Meeting, held on July 14, 2015 in Abuja, announced the adoption of a policy whereby candidates of universities with surplus applicants for the Unified Matriculation Examinations (UTME) are reassigned to other universities with lower number of candidates than their capacities.
According to the Registrar/CEO of JAMB, Professor Dibu Ojerinde, the policy portends two benefits:
  1. It will be beneficial to “needy Universities” that is universities with lower number of candidates than their capacities, as this will ensure that these universities will have more candidates to admit.
  2. Candidates will have better chances for admission in the universities they are re-assigned to, contrary to situations where they would await admission in the universities of their first choices until the admission exercise closes and they forfeit admission in that session.

Top 5 Unilag Events To Attend This Semester By Saygee (@olabodesaygee)

image
1. HOSTEL WEEKS: All hostel residents take out a whole week to celebrate their hostel. When I was in year one I attended almost all the hostel weeks be it male or female. Different games and competitions are carried out. It is always a fun time in the various hostels as it was (then) the only time when the other gender could go into any hostel. From cooking, to football and eating competition, the final day is usually the most anticipated as the Mr or Miss of the hostel is picked and a celebrity guest is usually expected to perform. For year one students this is an event you should look out for and for year two to final year students, am sure the celebrity guest usually attracts them to the finals of the hall weeks.
