Police bullet kills 60-year-old deejay, wife demands justice

Wife of a 60-year-old deejay, Adamson Bello, who was killed last Sunday by a stray bullet fired by a policeman attached to the Okokomaiko Police Division, Lagos State, has called for justice.
Modinatu, 50,  said the police did not only shoot her husband, they also frustrated efforts to get him medical treatment because the family could not obtain a police report demanded by the hospital.
Modinatu, who was married to the late deejay for 30 years before the relationship was terminated by the police bullet, explained to PUNCH Metro that Adamson was hit in the chest a few metres from their house.
Our correspondent learnt that the shot was fired by one of the policemen guarding a new hotel in the area, South Bound Hotel.
An eye witness told PUNCH Metro that nobody could explain why the shot was fired by the killer cop.
He said, “Baba Fasilat (Adamson) was sitting in front of a house a few meters away from the hotel which was being guarded by a team of policemen.”
“Suddenly, one of the policemen fired a shot, for reasons nobody could explain.
“Unfortunately, Baba Fasilat was hit in the chest. Immediately people saw what had happened, there was confusion.
“Other police officers started shooting into the air to scare people away and pave the way for their escape.”
Modinatu, however, said she knew about the calamity that befell her from her son.
She said, “I had just arrived from Ondo that Sunday. I prepared pounded yam for him and later, he said he wanted to stroll out to the other street where our son, Afeez, also a deejay, had a musical engagement.
“A few minutes later, Afeez rushed in and started screaming that his dad had been hit by a police stray bullet.
“I rushed to the scene. Everybody had fled. Even the police team that wreaked the havoc had deserted the area. It was only my husband on the ground in a pool of blood.  Later, neighbours helped me and we took him to a hospital around here, but he was rejected because there was no police report to explain the gunshot wound.”
Modinatu said a neighbour advised her to get the police report, adding that when she got to the station with them (neighbours), policemen on duty locked the gate and trained their guns at them.
She said, “We told them we had not come to fight, but needed a police report. They asked me to come in and took my statements. But despite the statement, I was not given any police report. After pleading with them and getting no positive response, we decided to take our chances. My husband died when we got to the Badagry General Hospital.”
Modinatu said since the incident, nobody at the station had visited the family, despite the fact that the family had reported the case there.
She said, “The Divisional Police Officer is aware that the shot was fired by a policeman guarding South Bound Hotel. I plead with relevant authorities in the police to step into this matter. My husband must not die in vain. I want justice.”
Our correspondent learnt that immediately the news of Adamson death filtered into the area, some residents launched an attack against the hotel in retaliation.
Some of the hotel’s properties had been damaged by the angry residents before a fresh team of policemen were deployed in the area to disperse them.

When our correspondent visited the hotel, repairs were still going on.
The traditional ruler of the area, Chief Dele Makinde, described the late Adamson as a gentle and easygoing man. He urged the government to bring the suspect to justice.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, told our correspondent on the telephone that the killer cop had been arrested and was being interrogated at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.
“The suspect has been arrested and is currently in detention as we speak. The matter has also been transferred to the SCID, Yaba for investigation,” Braide said.

PUNCHman detained for six hours
Some employees of the South Bound Hotel abducted The PUNCH correspondent, Samson Folarin, while investigating the story.
Our correspondent who had interviewed the residents and the wife of the victim, decided to get the comment of the hotel. He was, however, grabbed by some employees of the hotel about 12.34pm on the street and taken inside the hotel, where they grilled him for a few minutes.
The employees had earlier noticed him talking to the residents and taking some pictures of the area. They accused him of not consulting them before talking to the residents. He was later taken to the Okokomaiko Police Division, where he was detained for over six hours.
At the station, the Divisional Crime Officer accused him of taking pictures of the area and the hotel without authorisation.
When our correspondent explained that since an incident of public interest had taken place, which also concerned the hotel, he was permitted by the law to take any picture, the DCO became angry and ordered that he delete the pictures, but our correspondent declined.
After a while, he was taken before the DPO, who told him to go into a room to make his statements.
Afterwards, our correspondent was told he had been arrested for violating the privacy of the hotel.  His phones, camera and other materials were subsequently seized. He was taken to a dimly lit room where some other suspects were kept. Our correspondent asked to be allowed to speak with his editors, but he was denied.
Later, he was asked to disclose the source of his information, which he declined, saying it was against the ethics of his profession.
He was also asked to name people he had spoken with in the course of investigating the story, which he also refused.
Later, the DPO came in and asked our correspondent to speak with a senior police officer from the state command. It was later learnt that his editors had contacted the command. The police officer requested that our correspondent delete the pictures, which he did.
However, the DPO said his phones and camera should not be released until he had returned from a meeting. He did not return until some minutes before 7pm.

Electricity: FG borrows $1.6bn from China bank, others

Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, yesterday, said the investments recorded in the telecommunication sector since the introduction of the mobile telephone services in the country would be dwarfed by investment in the power sector, once the ongoing reforms in the sector took firm footing.
He spoke to newsmen after a meeting of the Presidential Action Committee on Power, adding that so far, government had accessed loans from various international lending agencies to fund the expansion of transmission infrastructure to the tune of $1.6 billion.
He said: “We have substantial amount of funding coming in form of loans from the World Bank, African Development Bank, Euro Bond Issue and Chinese Exim Bank and NDPHC had already designated $1.6 million for the expansion of transmission facilities.
“Government is adequately prepared. Everybody is excited at what has just happened; that we had such a significant compliance of all the preferred bidders, who bought the GENCOS and the DISCOS as most of them have paid up.
Cause to celebrate
“Most people thought it was never going to happen. Today, it is a reality and Nigeria is going from a public sector-dominated power sector to a private-sector driven one.
“We believe that this is very good for the country. We are celebrating that the entire nation is agog with it.
“The international community is amazed that this miracle could happen in Nigeria and we are so happy that everybody sees that it was a fragile situation because no county in Africa has taken the quantum leap to do the entire generation and distribution company utilities like that in one fell swoop.

“Nigeria has done it and I think the government of President Goodluck Jonathan should be commended for the courage, the boldness and the dexterity of purpose to ensure that this is happening.

“Remember what happened with NITEL, when telecommunications was essentially run by government.
“It was the epitome of ineptitude with regard to delivery of communication to our people. But today what do we have? We have a situation where Nigeria has over 120 million registered GSM lines.
“In those days, you needed to bribe people to get a line and whenever you had a problem. It took weeks to fix. Today, it is no longer so. The same thing is going to happen in the power sector.
‘The revolution’
“The difference is that we envisage that the power sector would dwarf the telecommunication sector in what we are going to see happen.
“It is going to re-energise the entire economy. The whole manufacturing and industrial sector will begin to boom. In addition, small and medium scale enterprises will begin to spring up all over the place.
“So there is a lot to celebrate and with these things in the hands of the private sector, they are going to deliver power.
“The only way to make their money is to ensure that power is delivered to the people.
“Once the people are getting power, the more their profit, the more incentive they have to ensure that whatever needs to be beefed up is beefed up.”

Don’t blame ASUU, urge the Federal Government

The negative reaction of the General Olusegun Obasanjo administration to the university students’ nationwide protests in April 1978 against the sudden hike in tuition by his administration marked a turning point in the decline in university education in Nigeria. University campuses were quickly occupied by the riot police as students kept chanting Alli Must Go, demanding the resignation of  Colonel Ahmadu Alli, then the Education Minister.
The fallout of the strike was monumental. Students were killed. Some lecturers were retrenched. Some vice-chancellors lost their jobs. University Governing Councils and the appointment of vice-chancellors became more and more politicised. The erosion of university autonomy, begun in 1971/72, when similar student protests also led to student deaths, continued unabated. NUNS was later banned, only to metamorphous into the present National Association of Nigerian Students in 1983.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities was formed later in 1978, as an offshoot of the Nigerian Association of University Teachers, established in 1965. It was realised that the excesses of the military government, the erosion of university autonomy, and the devaluation of higher education were far beyond what students could handle. It became necessary to bring together pockets of Marxist-oriented resistance within various campuses.
ASUU immediately took on two parallel tasks. One was to oppose continued military rule and obnoxious government policies, such as the Structural Adjustment Programme and World Bank loans intended to impose Western practices and ideologies on the Nigerian university system. The other was to fight for university autonomy, adequate funding, improved conditions of service, and adequate attention to education. The rise of ASUU led to a corresponding decrease in nation-wide student protests and the concomitant loss of lives.
Throughout the military era, ASUU met with one of three major responses: (a) Commissions or Visitation Panels were set up, only to have their recommendations either sidelined or used to victimise the striking lecturers and their institutional leaders; (b) indefinite closure of universities and the mass sack of lecturers; or (c) outright proscription of ASUU, as happened in 1988 and 1992. Only partially and sporadically were ASUU’s demands ever met.
The advent of democracy in 1999 was expected to bring about the desired change. Instead, the travails of university education multiplied. As more and more money was made from oil resources, identity politics and self-interest sidelined public interest, while endemic corruption put national development on hold. Infrastructure deteriorated, hitting the universities and prospective employers of labour harder than ever before. Astronomical increases in secondary school graduates created a glut in university admissions. High tuition fees in private schools drove millions of students to the public universities. As a result, more and more students were admitted without complementary increases in funding; staff recruitment; classroom space; library, lab and computer facilities; teaching aids; Internet connectivity; and e-learning resources.

As a result, Nigerian universities lost the competitive edge in the emerging knowledge economy because they could not keep pace with cutting edge research, effective teaching, and efficient graduate supervision. The government’s indigenisation policy prevented the recruitment of expatriate staff, while poor infrastructure and worsening national security severely disrupted exchange programmes with foreign institutions. Ultimately, half-baked graduates and doctoral students are being produced, and Nigerian universities lost their standing in the world rankings of universities.
These are the trends that ASUU has been seeking to reverse since 1978. Unfortunately, the democratic administrations have responded more or less like the military administrations before them. True, agreements and Memoranda of Understanding were signed, but they were hardly implemented. It has been a policy of give-or-promise-them-something so they may go back to work.
Yet, billions of naira are reportedly embezzled or otherwise mismanaged every month; billions are spent on presidential jets and their maintenance; legislators reportedly appropriated over N1trillion in jumbo pay within the last eight years alone; and trillions of Naira have been lost to pipeline vandalism and leakages within the NNPC. This past July alone, government revenues from oil fell by a whopping 42 per cent to N498 billion from N863 billion in June. The government blames the thieves and their foreign customers; but who will blame the government for negligence or for paying over N1trillion in misappropriated subsidy funds? The cumulative effects of this wastage and the concomitant neglect of higher education led the Nigerian elite to spend about $500 million annually to educate their children in European and American universities. This amount, according to the Committee of Vice-Chancellors, represents about 70 per cent of the total allocation to all federal universities in a given year.
Those who have blamed ASUU for the ongoing strike are either unaware of the history and wastage outlined above or chose to ignore them. It also appears that they are unaware of the nature of the 2009 agreement (a consolidation of previous unfulfilled agreements) and the 2012 Memorandum of Understanding that the Federal Government willingly signed with ASUU. Of the nine terms of the 2009 agreement, which included the injection of over N1trillion over four years to revitalise the university system, only two have been implemented to date, namely, the reinstatement of University Governing Councils in the Federal universities and the extension of retirement age for Professors to 70 years.
The sad irony about the Federal Government’s failure to implement the agreement came in 2012 when the report of its Committee on Needs Assessment of Nigerian Public Universities revealed gross infrastructural and manpower deficits as the bane of university education in the country.

Pop star Madonna was the world’s top-earning celebrity over the past year, trumping the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg.

The 55-year-old Material Girl made an estimated $125m, thanks to her MDNA tour, clothing and fragrance lines, according to Forbes.

The magazine said it was the most money Madonna had made in a single year since it began tracking earnings in 1999. Director Steven Spielberg was at number two with $100m (£64m).
Most of his earnings came from his back catalogue of film hits such as ET and Jurassic Park – which has just been released in 3D to mark its 20th anniversary – as well as last year’s Oscar winning Lincoln.
The director also takes a cut of all ticket sales at Universal Studios theme parks.

Third place was a three-way tie between 50 Shades of Grey author EL James, Simon Cowell and shock jock Howard Stern, with earnings of $95m (£61m).
Thriller writer James Patterson follows with $91m (£58.5m), while TV and radio host Glenn Beck earned $90m (£57.8m).
Others in the top 10 included Transformers director Michael Bay ($82m, £52.7m) producer Jerry Bruckheimer ($80m, £51.4m) and pop star Lady Gaga ($80m).
Forbes compiles its annual list of celebrity earnings using input from agents, managers, producers and others to calculate its estimates for each celebrity’s entertainment-related earnings. The figures do not reflect tax deductions, agent fees or “the other expenses of being a celebrity”.

Mourinho: If we don’t win we don’t lose

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, has once again reinforced his winning mentality, stating that his players already know they cannot afford to lose.
The former Real Madrid boss started without any recognised striker, as his team failed to score against Manchester United, although the game ended 0-0.
He said: “We did enough to be better than the opponent. We controlled the game for most of the time. We did not have real problems. We made simple mistakes. In terms of attack we did not give what we should.
“We play to win but if we don’t win we don’t lose and I think the players understand this completely. Both teams gave everything and I think towards the end my players went for the defensive position and to get the point.”

When asked whether he felt his tactics worked, he replied: “Yes because playing with Fernando Torres or Andre Schurrle didn’t change a lot.
“We didn’t create more, not because of the system but because we lost so many easy passes. I felt United also lost five or six easy balls. It was a difficult match for both of us.
“We both wanted to win and both did not want to lose. It was a really big, big match but without goals. But we have six points from our matches at home. Some of our opponents have lost points already, so after this difficult start we are fine.”

Advice: I’m In Love With My Brother, What Should I Do?

Me and my younger brother have always been close, he’s 18, I’m 20 and recently we’ve seen our relationship blossom. 
I wish I were trolling, that what I’m about to tell you is a lie – but it’s not, please don’t judge me.
It’s been this way for a month now, we’d always been typically close siblings but ever since he broke up with his girlfriend, I would comfort him and say “it’s alright, you’ll find someone perfect someday.”

It’s been almost three days since we made love, we’ve been kissing and doing other things whenever we can and I can honestly say that we are in love.

We’ve been planning our future together, and I’m beginning to think I made a HUGE mistake – I love him, but I’m not sure if it’s like that.

Angelo Speaks: My Affair With Beverly Osu In The Bathroom

First things first, the South African housemate – Angelo has denied his widely publicized “girlfriend”, saying: “I didn’t have a girlfriend before I got into the house, but I had someone I told to wait for me so that we would see what would happen when I get out of the house. I will be focused on what I want to do as a person and then focus on my relationship with Bev and see where we will take it to,”
Angelo was also asked why he had s*x with Beverly openly in the bath, and this is what he had to say:
“We didn’t have s*x. We talked about it. There were some things I said I wasn’t going to do in the house. I respect my mum so much. Before I got into the house, there were things I told my mummy I wasn’t going to do. I wasn’t b*tt unclad. It looked as if we were having s*x in that bathtub [but] we were just kissing. I couldn’t take advantage of Beverly because I respect her so much.”

Angelo is backing up the statement made by Beverly in the BB house when she insinuated that they hadn’t had s*x yet.

Angelo also said he intends to take his relationship with Beverly to the next level once she is done with BBA.
“We will try and work things out and see how we can make our relationship work. At the same time, I hope the people of Nigeria don’t hate Bev. I would love to come to Nigeria and experience Nigerian culture and take lots of pepper,” Angelo added.

ASUU rejects FG offers; says strike must continue

Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, yesterday, rejected. the N130 billion the Federal Government disbursed into the university system, as part of efforts to persuade striking lecturers to call off the strike which began on July 2.
In a letter written to Head of National Economic Empowerment Development Strategy, NEEDs Assessment, and Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswan, by President of ASUU, Dr. Nasir Isa Fagge. The union insisted that based on the 2009 ASUU/FGN agreement and the January 2012 Memoranda of Understanding, MoU, signed by both parties, what was due for 2012 and 2013 was N500 billion, not N100 billion.
The letter read: “We observe that the Committee is so far mentioning only N100 billion. If the implementation is to be related to the funding requirements in the 2009 ASUU/FGN agreement and the Jan 2012 MoU, what is due for 2012 and 2013 is N500 billion not N100 billion. Only the provision of this sum will meet the immediate needs of the universities.
“Our Union is very apprehensive of the manner in which the sources of the initial N100 billion to be used for the stimulation of the process are shrouded in secrecy. We believe that monies that already belong to the university system should not be blocked and recycled.
“This will not only be counterproductive but will brew even deeper crises in the system. ASUU will not accept this.
“We are also concerned that a clear procedure or process for assessing the funds by the universities is yet to be defined. This concern is even more germane, given the statement of the Chairman of the Committee (during the last meeting on Monday, August 19, 2013) that the committee is taking some documents to the Due Process Office.
“We hasten to add that while due process must be followed, it is the sole responsibility of benefitting universities to respect all the provisions of the Procurement Act. The meaning of your Committee going to the Due Process Office is that it is the one that will be responsible for awarding contracts.

“We want to make it clear that this will never be acceptable to our union. We believe that monies meant to fund projects in universities should be sent to the universities, just as it is the practice with TETFund.”
The union condemned allocation of construction of 2,500 bed space hostel for N1billion, instead of 3,000 bed space for N1.2 billion.
“We are worried that instead of allocating N1.2 billion each to construct 3,000 bed space hostels to the 10 Category 1 universities, N1.0 billion for 2,500 bed space hostel to the 16 Category 2 universities, N500 million to construct 1,250 bed space hostels in the 12 Category 3 universities and N250 million each to construct 625 bed space hostels in the 13 Category 4 universities, the secretariat has changed that to constructing 1,400 bed space hostels in 25 universities at the cost of N2 billion each. We see no rationale in this.
“Expending N50 billion to construct 35,000 bed space hostels across 25 universities will be ridiculously scandalous since the same amount can be used to construct 125,000 bed space hostels across 51 universities. The standard cost of building a bed space ranges from N200,000.00 to a maximum of N400,000.00.
“This is even more worrisome, given the tangential suggestions made by the chairman that only monies for refurbishment will be sent to universities, while the rest will be handled centrally,” the union said.
The union also condemned the exclusion of 22 universities from the allocation for refurbishment of laboratories and libraries and three universities from the allocation for refurbishment of lecture theatres and lecture rooms.
According to ASUU, 24 universities are denied allocation for construction of libraries and laboratories, while two are denied allocation for construction of new lecture theatres and lecture rooms. 26 universities are denied allocation for construction of hostel.

SSS grills teenage stowaway’s mum

The mother of the 13-year-old stowaway, Ricky Daniel Ohikhena, who on Friday hid in the tyre compartment of an Arik plane on a flight from Benin to Lagos, was on Monday quizzed for hours by a combined team of security operatives from the Department of State Security Service and aviation security.
The mother, Evelyn, who confirmed that she was quizzed by the SSS operatives, said her son was a nice boy who never displayed any tendency for such a dangerous venture.
An embattled Evelyn said Daniel was a nice boy who did not mingle with bad friends.
She said, “My son answers Daniel in school and Ricky at home. I went to my elder sister’s place who put to bed and when I got home the next morning (Saturday), I couldn’t find him. My daughter told me that they quarrelled in the night because he woke at midnight to watch movies and she told him to stop watching movie in the night and she said he eventually slept in the parlour while she said she went back to sleep in the room.

“One of his younger brothers said he saw him remove all his school books from his bag; so I asked my neighbours whether any of them saw him and they told me that at around 5 to 6 am, they heard sounds that somebody was opening the gate but never thought it was my son. He doesn’t go out. What I know is that he is always watching films in the house but he doesn’t have friends.
“I went to Oba Market police station, they referred me to Evbuotubu police station, when I got there they said they will declare him missing after 24 hours and that I should come back the next day.”
Speaking on the type of person her son is, Evelyn said, “He is always at home, I have never seen anybody come to look for him and he doesn’t have friends. I am begging the government to help me, because I have never been to the airport before, I have been to Lagos before so they should help me. I don’t know how he manage to get there but I just thank God that he is alive.

SHOCKING PHOTOS: Female Journalist Takes Off Her Clothes While Interviewing Local Government Leader

A Canadian radio host and newspaper columnist took off her top during an interview with her local mayor this week and continued asking him questions bare-chested.
Lori Welbourne, who hosts the radio show On The Rocks and writes a column for the Province newspaper, was talking to Walter Gray, mayor of Kelowna in British Columbia, about whether it was legal in the town for women to bare their br**sts in public.
‘What if I went walking down the street unclad?’ she asked in the recorded interview.
But before Gray could answer her question, Welbourne handed him her microphone and undid the strap on her dress, exposing her br**sts.
‘What are you doing,’ he asked, to which she replied, ‘it’s really hot in here.’
After regaining his composure, Gray explained that while someone may be tempted to call the police there is little authorities could do because it is in fact entirely legal for a woman to be unclad anywhere a man can be.
Welbourne’s stunt was in anticipation of Sunday’s Go unclad Day.

Public uncladness is not illegal anywhere in Canada unless it’s deemed to be indecent. It is also legal for women in a range of American states though plenty still outlaw.

‘So I can go unclad here in Kelowna?’ Welbourne went on.

‘Well, evidently,’ Gray said. ‘I’m not suggesting you should do that but I don’t think you’d be committing any crime or breaking any bylaw.’
Groups of women turned out shirtless in cities including New York on August 25 to celebrate a women’s right to bare her br**sts in public. The annual event was started in 2007.
Welbourne went on to ask the mayor whether he was aware we are all unclad under our clothes and whether he had any piercing and he replied in good humor

For the awards that were given out, it was a mixed
bag of winners, with no single artist dominating.
However, Justin Timberlake took home the night’s

Lady Gaga opened the show with new single
“Applause,” her first major performance since
canceling the tail-end of her Born This Way tour and
undergoing hip surgery in February. Keeping in line
with her latest performance art-persona, she
seamlessly changed in and out of elaborate costumes
and wigs several times throughout the song – from
an all-white Flying Nun-type costume to a black-
sequined leotard to a string bikini made out of beach
shells – while seemingly lip-syncing her way through
the song.
But the night belonged to Justin Timberlake, who was
presented with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard
award, performing for a solid 15 minutes to celebrate
the win, including a brief reunion with his former
group ‘NSync. He also walked away with the biggest
award of the night, Video of the Year, for “Mirrors.”
It was Timberlake’s first performance at the VMAs in
six years, and the first time he’s performed with
‘NSync since 2003. The reunion was a mere 90
seconds, with the group singing and dancing to two
of its biggest hits: “Bye Bye Bye” and “Girlfriend.”
The rest of the time Timberlake performed solo,
singing a medley of his hits, from “Like I Love You”

his acceptance speech, he made a point to say that
he wanted to “share the award” with his former
bandmates, jokingly adding, “We can keep it at my
house.”
The most moving performance of the night, however,
came from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (featuring
Mary Lambert and joined onstage by Jennifer
Hudson), who sang “Same Love” soon after winner
the award for Best Video With a Social Message for
its pro-gay marriage stance. During the acceptance
speech, Macklemore said, “To watch this song spread
across the world is a testament to what is happening
right now in America on the forefront of equality. Gay
rights are human rights; there is no separation.” The
duo also won Best Hip-Hop Video for “Can’t Hold Us,”
featuring Ray Dalton.
But not all of the night’s performances were winners.
Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke did a haphazard (and
at times cringe-worthy) mash-up of “We Can’t Stop”
and “Blurred Lines” that featured giant dancing
teddy bears and Cyrus twerking and groping Thicke.
And Kanye West gave a dark performance of “Blood
on the Leaves” where he mostly appeared in
silhouette against a backdrop of trees and was
heavily bleeped for offensive language. Both Cyrus
and Thicke walked away empty-handed, despite
being nominated in three categories each and having
some of the biggest hits of the summer. West wasn’t
nominated at all.
The Song of the Summer award went to One
Direction for “Best Song Ever,” which beat out both
Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop,” Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” and
Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky.”
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift won Best Female Video for “I
Knew You Were Trouble.” During her speech, she
alluded to her short-lived fling with One Direction’s
Harry Styles, saying, “I want to thank the person who
inspired this song – who knows exactly who he is –
’cause now I got one of these,” as the camera
awkwardly cut to Styles.
The show ended with Katy Perry doing a fun, boxing-
themed take on her latest hit single “Roar.”

"I’m not taking any side, don’t mean no beef, no disrespect, and no hate but let the truth be told. I don’t believe because you feel you have a few change you didn’t have a few years ago and which you cannot guarantee having in a few years to come then you wake up and look at those people who have cheered you up, loved you, supported your music, bought your CD’s, prayed for you, just because you can lay your hands on some phone and you call them ‘poor’. Am not in and will never be in support of anyone who has such bad attitude.

“It needs to be corrected, we owe our fans the duty of being good examples that’s why they hold us in high esteem, that’s why you are a role model and if you know you cannot be a good role model you have no business in Music. The photos you see above were posted online by friends of Angelo's girlfriend (before he entered BBA) Candice Arends, who were obviously angered by his public display of affection with Bev during the BBA finale. They made it seem like Candice was at the after party with Angelo and already got an engagement ring from him. But the reality is, the ring Candice is flaunting above is a promise ring Angelo gave her when they were dating before BBA. Angelo has since said his relationship with Candice wasn't serious and is happy with Bev.

Radio presenter Femi Raji buys infiniti FX35 for wife as birthday gift

Sports Radio Brila FM's celebrity presenter, Babafemi Raji's wife, Tiyeyosi Raji added a year yesterday and it was celebrated with family and friends at Coldstone Cremery in Surulere.

Then this morning, the birthday girl got the surprise of her life when the popular presenter known on radio as 'Topmost Striker' had a brand new infinity FX 35 delivered to her at her office. Congrats to her!

Genevieve Nnaji denies granting Yes! Magazine interview

Star actress Genevieve Nnaji is on the cover of this week's Yes! Magazine (above left) where she purportedly granted an exclusive interview to the magazine publisher, Azuh Arinze, talking about her career, love life and wishes for the future.

A few minutes after I culled excerpts from the one-page interview, Genevieve Nnaji took to twitter to deny granting it. She said the interview is either false or as old as her career.

Boy found under Arik plane tyre hole thought he was going to the US

The 14 year old boy who beat airline and airport security at Benin airport on Saturday August 24th and flew in the tyre hole of a Lagos-bound Arik plane actually thought he was on his way to the US.

Sources at Benin Airport said Daniel Ikehina ran away from home because he was being maltreated and was trying to escape from his parents when he joined the Arik flight. Unfortunately for him the plane wasn't flying to the US, it was flying to Lagos where the stowaway was immediately arrested as he alighted from the wheel well of the aircraft. Daniel is presently in the custody of the State Security Service (SSS) who are trying to unravel how he managed to pull off such a stunt.
