Death toll rises to 78 in Yobe student attack
"They started gathering students into groups outside, then they opened fire and killed one group and then moved onto the next group and killed them. It was so terrible. They came with guns around 1a.m. and went directly to the male hostel and opened fire on them. The college is in the bush, so the other students were running around helplessly as guns went off and some of them were shot down.”The gunmen stormed the hostels in two double-cabin pickup all-terrain vehicles and on motorcycles, and were dressed in military camouflage. They attacked 4 male hostels but avoided the only hostel reserved for girls. Swords and knives were used to kill at least 30 male students. Some corpses that were found were without heads while others had heads hanging to the bodies. Wailing parents and relatives were at the Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital mortuary in Damaturu this morning to identify their loved ones. This can't continue. This government has to do something about the situation.

The bodies of the victims are currently being picked from bush and hostels, where the gunmen shot the harmless students. Injured students were moved to Damaturu Specialist Hospital. While surviving students have fled the College.

Prof Wole Soyinka Escapes Death In Kenya
But for providence, Nigeria’s Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka would have been among the dead in the terror attack that took place at the Nairobi Westgate mall in Kenya last weekend.
Speaking at a press conference at the Freedom Park in Victoria Island, Lagos, on Friday in honour of the late Ghanaian poet, Professor Kofi Awoonor who died in the attack, Soyinka led a group of Nigerian writers to condemn the Nairobi massacre.

Who Sinned First: Satan Or Adam?
Saw this question, so I decided to share it here, let's hear what you think. I'm sure we have well grounded, sound bible students here.

Who committed the first act of disobedience and usurped the blissful paradise of peace of both heaven and earth? Was it Satan or Adam?
If it was Satan, common sense would have required God to shield the newly created earth, especially impressionable newborns like Adam and Eve from the influences of Satan .
To have allowed that to happen would have been gross negligence of the highest form. Even more absurd is the fact that the impressionable newborns are thereafter punished for an event that should not have happened if the right measures had been taken.
Even more absurd is that the innocent offsprings of Adam and Eve are condemned for eternity for no sins of their own , but for the lapse in judgement of the first Babysitter.
God allowed Satan to roam free knowing fully well that naive couple like Adam and Eve would be susceptible to his charms, which begs the question: What was God's game plan? What's the point of telling Adam not to eat the forbidden fruit and yet allow the serpent to slunk about, unchecked?

Jane Hampson, 37, said she would usually enjoy one 125ml glass of red wine a week with a meal after reading a research which suggested it was medically acceptable.
But the Deutsche Bank worker, who is overdue with her first baby, was left dumbfounded after a barman at Pi bar, in Liverpool, told her: 'Sorry, I can't serve you.'
When she asked him why, the bartender said: 'I refuse to have serving alcohol to pregnant women on
my conscience.'
The exchange attracted the attention of other customers at the busy bar and the woman eventually left the bar out of embarrassment and bought a glass of red wine elsewhere.
The bar bosses today apologised to the pregnant woman who said:
'I couldn’t believe it - it was so humiliating. There is no way I would endanger my unborn baby yet it was being insinuated that I was doing just that and being irresponsible.
At the time the bar was packed and all the customers were looking over at us to see what all the commotion was about. We felt we had no choice but to leave because it was so embarrassing.
The fact I am pregnant was none of his business. I appreciate a bar’s management reserve the right not to serve customers but obviously I wasn’t drunk or misbehaving or under 18 - so he had no reason not to serve me.
'I am not some Vicky Pollard-type binge drinker. I have done extensive research on the effects of drinking alcohol when pregnant and the fact is there’s nothing wrong with having a small glass of wine every week.
'When you look at how much of an issue excess alcohol causes in this country, I really don’t feel that any establishment that chooses to profit from alcohol sales is in any position to judge anyone.'
