Ebola: 5 Facts The Media Forgot To Tell You

 ''The disease has gotten a lot of attention, rightly so considering the sheer number of people it has killed in its wake, but really should we be that afraid? That paranoid? I wasn't sure so I decided to do some research. You know how it is, the bible says, 'My people perish for lack of knowledge.'

What I found was reassuring to say the least. While the media has done a great job in keeping everyone abreast of the latest Ebola updates, it has done an unbelievably dismal job of reducing the fear and panic that has gripped the average west African.

The following represent the facts about Ebola and its transmission (Beyond what might already be out there):

19 year old boy kills his own 4year old brother in Oyo state

19 year old Rilwan Ahmed (pictured above) did the most unthinkable thing, he killed his own brother. According to a report by Tribune, Rilwan took his 4 year old half-brother Waris Ahmed to an uncompleted building close to their residence at Oloko village in Ibadan, Oyo State, tied a piece of cloth across his face, making it difficult for him to breathe, then tied his legs, and left him there. A group of Russian teenagers have done the unthinkable after they created a fully-functioning water park in the living room of their flat in the city of Oryol. With temperatures reaching an uncomfortable 34C outside, the boys used only 'polyethylene film and tape' to transform their carpeted lounge into a swimming pool several feet deep.

Chris Brown & Drake's First Ever Performance gets Cancelled

Chris Brown and Drake planned to unveil their new song on Monday in Toronto, but the plan, according to TMZ, has been scrapped because Chris can't get into the country.

TMZ is reporting that Drake had invited Chris Brown to join him Monday night on stage at his OVO Fest. Chris agreed and the plan was for them to perform the song on which they collaborated last month. The performance would have been big for 2 reasons -- it's the first time they performed
together, and there’s rumored to be some subtle shade thrown at Rihanna in the lyrics to the new song.

Surrogate Mum Weeps As She Tells How An Australian Couple Abandoned Their Baby Due To Down Syndrome

A Thai surrogate mother has broken down in tears while speaking about how the baby she was paid to carry was abandoned by an Australian couple who refused to take him home once they found out he had Down syndrome.

Pattharamon Janbua has told of her pain for the child, saying she loved the baby boy, now six months old, like he was her own.

There are now fears baby Gammy may not survive after he taken to hospital on Friday when he contracted a lung infection as it emerged his mother had received more than $50,000 in donations from all over the world to care for the boy.

Germany Is Official Enlargement Capital ...Pic Says It All.

Germany is the penis enlargement capital of the world, official figures reveal.

More men underwent surgery to boost their penis size than in any other country in the world in 2013, according to figures from the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.

In total, 2,786 men had penoplasty operations in Germany last year.

The ISAPS said there were 15,414 penis enlargement operations performed worldwide last year. It means nearly one in five of those having surgery did so in Germany.

The German Centre for Urology and Phalloplasty Surgery claims it can increase penis length by up to 6cm and girth by 3cm. Operations costs £7,600.

The data was not compiled by patient nationality, so the surgeries in Germany were not necessarily all performed on German men or German residents.

Pics: Chinese Women' Bizarre Armpit Hair Competition Goes Viral

A competition which sees Chinese women taking selfies of their underarm hair is sweeping the country's version of Twitter. 

Young women are flooding the Chinese website Weibo with images of their unshaven underarms in a bizarre social media trend. 

The competition, called 'Girls not plucking their armpit hair' is said to be challenging social norms and encouraging women to keep their body hair. 

 Many of the images show the women proudly showing off their underarm hair, while others are pictured with their ponytails tucked under their arms. 

It is thought that organisers of the competition will eventually put together a top 10 of the best pictures, although there doesn't seem to be any prize for first place.

Boko Haram Set To Attack Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Government says it has received text messages from the Boko Haram terrorist group threatening to attack public places in the state.

Punch reports that a statement issued on Friday evening by the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, said the public places targeted include churches, markets and schools, among others. Umanah advised members of the public to be security conscious and be extra-vigilant by reporting suspicious movements to security personnel for immediate action.

He assured residents of their safety, saying government had directed security agencies to step up surveillance to prevent likely attack on the state. Umanah urged the residents to go about their legitimate businesses as government was poised to sustain the peace being enjoyed in the state.

The state government, however, frowned at the re-emergence of activities of commercial
motorcyclists in Uyo metropolis despite the existing ban on their operations.

Ebola Virus Can Be Halted By Bitter Kola - Research Says

Dr Maurice Iwu said the discovery was a breakthrough

A plant has been found to halt the deadly Ebola virus in its tracks in laboratory tests, scientists have said.

They used a compound from Garcinia kola, a plant commonly eaten in West Africa. Compounds from the plant have also proved effective against some strains of flu.

If the anti-Ebola compound proves successful in animal and human trials, it will be the first medicine to successfully treat the virus that causes Ebola haemorrhagic fever - an often-fatal condition.

The discovery was announced at the 16th International Botanical Congress in St Louis in the US.
