OPEN LETTER TO UNILAG MANAGEMENT CONCERNING OLUCHI'S DEATH

It’s with a bitter hearth I have chosen to write this letter. Yesterday 8th September saw the passing on of a close female friend of mine due to the lackadaisical act of the school management. This wire sparking ish has been on since my year one days and nothing has been done about it, same thing around Amina hostel, a wire around there keeps sparking. Currently, a wire from a pole facing faculty of social sciences has been down for over 2weeks since a heavy wind fell it down and nothing has been done about that. Is it until sth else happens before the school management takes action? Cos this seems to be the case. Even before the fire station in school was restored, we already had like 2-3 fire serious incidents.
Am not writing as a student, I am as a close friend of Oluchi who will dearly miss her prolly that’s my future wife or someone else’s own, who knows?
UNILAG management should try and do sth about all this sparking ish cos it happens inside hostels sef, prolly a rewiring or whatever it is called should be done not some fumigation that gave birth to bed bugs in our hostels.
*sobs* life is just too cruel *crying* Rest In Peace OLUCHI, will miss you cray….

Below is a message from UNILAG STUDENT UNION

GREATEST AKOKITES!!!
The University of Lagos Students' Union regrets to announce the passing away of one of us,  our very own OLUCHI ANEKWE,  a 300 level student of the department of  Accounting. Oluchi, till her death, was a first class student, and a very active student in class.
Our condolence goes to her families, relatives and friends. We pray that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
The event that led to her death is in its entirety avoidable. We hereby call on all concerned authorities to swing into action so as to prevent future occurrence.
In this regard, we hereby declare that all academic and social activities of the school and of the students' are hereby suspended for today(9TH September 2015) and no unnecessary sound around the campus in honour of the lost soul.
The entire University of Lagos Students loved her, but God in His wisdom saw fit to embrace her.
