The Reds are hopeful of signing Victor Moses, the Nigerian winger
who has fallen down the pecking order in Jose Mourinho’s side since the
beginning of the new season.Another reason Chelsea will allow him go is
the new signing of Brazilian winger Willian from Anzhi Makachkala According
to Daily Mail, Chelsea expect Liverpool to pay £2million loan fee for
the Nigerian. However, Liverpool want to try to secure the deal at a
reduced price.
Moses earns £55,000 a week at Chelsea and Liverpool are reluctant
to match that. Even though Moses was instrumental in Chelsea’s run to
the Europa League final last season, he has since become surplus to
requirements at Stamford Bridge since the return of Jose Mourinho. With
the 2014 World Cup looming, the winger needs to play regularly in order
to secure a place in the Nigeria team that is aiming to qualify for its
fourth Mundial.
Liverpool coach Brenda Rodgers hopes his long-standing
relationship with Mourinho will help steer the deal in Liverpool’s
direction this week ahead of transfer deadline day on September 2. Moses
has been told that Chelsea are unlikely to agree to his sale, but they
will let the winger leave for a season.
