UNILAG BECOMES INSTITUTIONAL PATNER OF HABITAT UNI OF UN-HABITAT, KENYA

The University of Lagos has successfully registered as an Institutional Partner of the Habitat Partnership University Initiative (HPUI) of the UN-Habitat, Nairobi, Kenya.

HPUI is a network of academia/research partners and described as “an inclusive initiative, enabling an open entry process based on motivation towards sustainable urban development”.

In furtherance of its main objectives of strengthening “the role of universities as active city changers” the network’s aims include:

• fostering cooperation between UN-Habitat and Institutions of higher education,
• encouraging collaborative learning among universities,
• bridging the gap between academics and professional practitioners,
• harnessing the strengths of universities,
• promoting active collaboration in the fields of education, research, professional development and policy, and
• instituting progressive university-city collaborations on sustainable urban development.
